Slippery and Elusive Time

December 21, 2009 at 10:18 am 7 comments

What is it about getting older that time slips away like so much water down a drain? Here it is almost Christmas and my last visit to the blog was in the beginning of summer! Eighteen months out of the traditional work force and I think I’ve finally quit freaking out about “filling the void”.

Summer was filled with grandkids, gardening and working on a play for Christmas. Fall was filled with cleaning up the mess after a summer with grandgirls, auditions and rehearsals. Now here we are in winter. The Christmas play is just memory. The girls are back with their mother and looming in my personal future is a baby shower (Princess) and a wedding (also Princess), the spring play and a new venture.

Missed you all.

Merry Christmas, Kat! Don’t apologize for living your life. It was great to hear from you thought and I am glad you checked in.

To catch you up to speed, Amoeba and I are in the throes of packing for out move back to the mainland. We are trading in Hawaii’s perpetual sun for the green trees and gray skies of the Pacific Northwest — as much as we love the beaches & hibiscus flowers, we are more addicted to eating and as such are going where the job market takes us.

Hi Kat, really good to hear from you. As Quilly says we all have a life to live, and I must admit yours has always sounded a very full one, so you wont have had much time for writing. Have a wonderful Christmas and I’m sure you’ll have a house full of relatives. Take care all the very best. Dave

You were enjoying life, that’s what it’s all about. At first, when I didn’t see you blogging for a while, I wondered if everything was okay…and now I see it was better than okay, it sounds great.

    Enjoy your holidays, Kat.

delighted to hear that all is well, and that you’re becoming comfie with this new status.

but is time “down the drain” when it’s enjoyed and lived? Everything can’t be an adventure and new. Lots of heartache and hard work in adventure.

miss you… but enjoying yourself is key.

    Have a Wonderful Christmas Holiday!

Kat, I so understand exactly what you mean… and my blog has suffered similar neglect. But life really IS meant to be lived and it sounds like you’re doing just that!

The free-lance writer is the person who is paid per piece or per word or perhaps. (Robert Benchley)

Welcome to My Neighborhood!

Shortly after I learned to use a spoon, I learned to use a pencil. Crippled by shyness as a child, I found that the things I couldn't say out loud, I could say with a pen, and then a typewriter. The shyness was overcome with education and age...but the need to write has never left me.
